First Annual Diamond/McNabb Ranch Horse Sale Draws Buyers From 22 States
The first annual Diamond/McNabb Ranch Horse Sale in Casper, Wyoming on June 6, 2009 drew buyers from 22 states and a $5,850 sale average. Offered to the public by Diamond Ranches and Ken McNabb, along with a few select ranching families, 75 ranch geldings were auctioned to the highest bidder.
Buyers were able to bid at the sale, over the phone and on-line through the live broadcast of the sale. Pre-registration allowed bidders to call in or log on to the DV Auction web site and place their bids the day of the sale.
The highest selling horse at $15,000 was a six-year-old grade palomino gelding named Buttermilk, purchased by Mark and Kathy Reeves of Rye, Colorado. Owned and trained by McNabb, he says that out of all his personal horses, Buttermilk had it all including disposition, conformation, color, looks and more.
"Buttermilk is the coolest horse I've owned within the past 15 years. He has so much heart, loves to work and excels at whatever you ask him to do whether you're sorting cattle, doctoring calves, roping wild colts or going on a trail ride," says McNabb.
Ranging from three to fourteen-year-olds, each horse had been used on a ranch whether sorting, branding or doctoring yearlings. McNabb personally oversaw the training of 50 of the sale horses. Organized to provide families with excellent horses they can depend on no matter what the job, Diamond Ranches and Ken McNabb are thrilled with the success of the sale.
"We are very happy that we could provide these quality ranch horses to families across the country. There's no place I wouldn't take any of these geldings and I'm extremely proud of these horses," says McNabb.
Diamond Ranches and Ken McNabb will be offering another great group of ranch geldings at their second annual ranch gelding sale in 2010. Look for more information soon on the date and location of the sale, as this is the one sale of the year you will not want to miss.
